It’s claimed the deal is so progressed that it could be completed by the end of the week, with Varane signing a four or five-year deal at Old Trafford.
Varane has reportedly already consulted with an agency to smooth over his move to the north-west, with the defender keen to help his children settle quickly in England. The World Cup winner will become United’s second signing of the summer following the £73m arrival of Jadon Sancho from Dortmund.
Varane is expected to slot into the defence alongside captain Harry Maguire, meaning Victor Lindelof will become the first back-up.
United could look to offload Jesse Lingard once Varane is through the door, as they need to recoup some money following a £110m outlay. There is also intense speculation over the future of Paul Pogba, with Paris Saint-Germain keen on signing the midfielder.
