Manchester United Set Bargain Price For Clubs To Sign Jesse Lingard In January

Manchester United are now prepared to sell Jesse Lingard for as little £10million in the January transfer window, rather than allowing the midfielder’s contract to expire.

The 28-year-old returned to Old Trafford last summer after a successful loan spell at West Ham, who were desperate to sign the England international on a permanent basis.

However, the Red Devils were demanding as much as £30m for Lingard – who had 12 months to run on his contract at the time.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had talked up the chances of Lingard signing a new deal but negotiations haven’t progresses in the fashion that the club had hoped, with Lingard angered at his lack of playing time so far this term.

United remain determined to keep Lingard but with little sign that he’s willing to sign an extension, they’re resigned to selling him in the January window and the Sun claim they will accept a fee of around £10m.

That’s well below the club’s summer valuation of £30m and sums up the chaotic nature of United’s transfer business in recent times.

West Ham remain interested in Lingard but the Red Devils hope Newcastle will enter the bidding to ramp up the price.

Lingard’s made eight appearances so far this term but his only start came in a League Cup defeat to West Ham.

The midfielder wants to make England’s 2022 World Cup squad and feels his chances are being hindered by remaining at the Theatre of Dreams.

That stance could change, however, if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is sacked.
