Manchester United Players ‘Convinced’ Paul Pogba Has Played His Final Match For The Club

Manchester United players are reportedly convinced Paul Pogba has played his final match for the club.

Pogba has been out with an ankle injury since the end of September and the 26-year-old midfielder was due to return earlier this week. After attending his brother’s wedding in France at the weekend, though, Pogba picked up a mystery illness and missed United’s Carabao Cup clash with Colchester on Wednesday night.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been adamant that Pogba remains a key part of his plans, despite growing speculation that the France international is angling for a move to Real Madrid. The United manager has repeatedly stressed that Pogba will be back playing for the club again before too long, but this is not a feeling shared by the entire club.

According to media reports, several key members of the dressing room are now resigned to losing their team-mate and don’t expect him to pull on a United shirt again. The Red Devils have impressed in Pogba’s absence in recent weeks, winning four of their last five matches, including shock victories over Tottenham and Manchester City.

It’s understood United have slapped a £150million price tag on the World Cup winner ahead of the January transfer window. Asked about Pogba’s fitness on Tuesday, Solskjaer revealed: ‘Of all things, he’s dropped down ill now.

‘He’s been off for two or three days, three days probably, so that’s not beneficial. That’s probably set him back quite a bit. As I’ve said so many times, Paul’s a top, top player who we want to see playing his best football at Man United. We just need to get him fit, match fit might be half hour, 45, 60, 90 [minutes], who knows the first game. But we’re working hard to get him back, but now he’s ill.’
