Man Who Murdered Morgan Freeman’s Granddaughter Jailed For 20-Years

Man who stabbed the step-granddaughter of Morgan Freeman and murdered her has been sentenced to 20-years imprisonment. The man reportedly stabbed her 25 times in front of eyewitnesses. He was given an additional five years of post-release supervision. The accused Lamar Davenport, 33, was convicted of manslaughter in the first degree for the fatal attack on 33-year-old E’Dena Hines, who was his girlfriend at the time.   The man was first charged with murder in the second degree, but his lawyer argued that he had been in a drug-induced psychosis during the brutal slaying, brought on by his use of PCP. Mailonline reports that a man who witnessed the during trial said Davenport screamed: ‘I love you. I always loved you. God would have wanted this.’ Davenport was taken to a hospital after his arrest and was given sedatives. When he awoke he started screaming; ‘Why did this happen? No, no! Why God?’ Reports have it that the deceased and Davenport, a rapper, had been living together in a $780,000 apartment that was paid for by Morgan Freeman. Witnesses who testified said their relationship was tumultuous and Davenport had kids with women while the pair were together. He also reportedly struggled with drug abuse. Hines is the granddaughter of Morgan’s first wife, Jeanette Adair Bradshaw.Photo Credit: Getty
