According to the Sun, both teams have been in talks for the last few days over an extension of his stay at Manchester United which he joined on an initial loan deal too during the January transfer window.

The 30-year-old whose deal expired on Sunday night May 31st 2020, will return to his parent club after a deal couldn’t be reached, it was earlier revealed by Ighalo’s agent Atta Aneke that both parties were working on an extension and if the new loan deal is agreed Ighalo might just be at United until the end of January 2021.

Sportsmail understands that Ighalo’s loan fee was a problem for United, which could have been one of the challenges as to why they failed to reach an agreement for his extension.

Odion Ighalo who signed for Manchester United on a short-term loan deal from Shanghai Shenhua had made a valuable contribution, scoring four times in eight games for the Premier League club significant impact since joining Man United and this is one the reasons why United intend to extend his loan deal

About a week ago United Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said during an interview that would love for Jude Odion Ighalo to stay, Since Ighalo joined Man United, United is yet to lose a game and were on an 11 game unbeaten run before the Coronavirus situation halted sporting activities.
