An outstanding performance by Jesse Lingard was the only obstacle that hindered Burnley from recording a thrilling boxing day victory in Old Trafford, in a match that left Jose Mourinho completely dumbfounded.
Jose Mourinho’s side found themselves behind after only three minutes when Barnes capitalized on United’s failure to clear a free-kick.
The Red Devils pushed for an equalizer as they dominated possession and shot on target, but they were in for another shocker when Defour curled in a free-kick before half time.
Lingard came off the bench to give United a lifeline, and at the end, Burnley were denied a first away league win over United since September 1962.
The draw sees Burnley retain the seventh position on the table while United retain the second position.
