It seems gone are those days when a monarch is the chief-comptroller of everything and can take any woman he so desires, as Oba Onibedo of Ilotin loses his life to the act.
The 35-year-old Ekiti monarch Chief Sola Fatunla was said to have lost his life in a cold murder after which his corpse was set set ablaze by Sunday, his concubine’s former husband.

Reports have it Sunday, a charcoal businessman had accused Onibedo of Ilotin a of having an affair with his former wife, Tadeni, with whom he had two kids before their marriage collapsed. At first he was said to have apologised to the monarch when he learnt he was just friends with his wife but later connived to have him and his wife abducted.
Sunday was said to be on a journey with Fatunla whom he had contacted to use his influence and position in Ikole Ekiti to plead with those he claimed seized his charcoal when the abduction took place.
“But while accompanying him to where his charcoal was seized on Sunday, the suspect allegedly connived with others to abduct Fatunla and his ex wife. The victims were tied to trees. Fatunla was beaten with cutlasses and later set ablaze. It was when they came back to mete punishment out to Tadeni that they realised that she had escaped. During interrogation, Chief Fatunla’s stolen phone rang inside Sunday’s pocket but he refused to pick it. However, one of the vigilantes collected the phone and answered the call only to be told that the owner of the phone was abducted.
