Makinde Declares Half-Day At Work In Ibadan

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has on Thursday declared a half-day at work for civil service workers of the state on Friday, March 17th 2023 ahead of the gubernatorial elections scheduled to hold on Saturday, 18th March.

The Secretary of the State Government, Olubanwo Adeosun, had approved the circular stating that the decision to grant the half-day was to enable civil and public servants in state who wish to travel to cast their votes the opportunity to do so.

In a statement by Taiwo Adisa, Chief Press Secretary to the governor stated that workers will close at 12pm but those in-charge of essential duties will be expected to continue with their normal routine.

The circular partly read, “This approval of a half day at work will enable public and civil servants, who may wish to travel to perform their civic responsibilities, the opportunity to do so.

“Following from the above, government offices are to close by 12 noon, on Friday, March 17, 2023, while staff covering essential services are expected to remain at their duty posts.

“Public and civil servants in the state are enjoined to go out on Saturday, 1/March 18, 2023, to perform their civic responsibilities,” the statement added.
