Lupita Nyong’o, Susan Anyango, Huddah Monroe And 3 Other Celebs That Shows Kenyans Are Indeed Leading Nigerians

Kenyan singer and rapper, Victoria Kimani, recently irked many Nigerians when she compared the country to her native Kenya.

Whilst many Nigerians feel slighted by the comparison, it might seem the beautiful country of Kenya might not be as backward or under-developed or inferior to Nigeria as many argued.

We showcase 6 Kenyans that are putting the country on the global map and actually shading Nigeria.

1. Vera Sidika (Socialite, Model and Style Influencer): For every Toke Mackinaw that Nigeria produces, there seems to be a matching Vera Sidika.

Vera’s photos on Instagram gain thousands of “likes” everyday. Vera is mostly famous for her incredible body curves and her scandalous and luxurious lifestyle. Vera famously spent 170 thousand dollars on cosmetic procedure.

2. Betty Kyalo (TV Presenter): I don’t think there is anybody who owns a television set who doesn’t know Betty Kyalo.

From her news anchoring job to her dating life, she truly has had her fair share of the limelight.

She’s the equivalent of Mercy Aigbe albeit more personable.

3. Huddah Monroe (Actress and Reality TV Star): Huddah Monroe is definitely one of the most popular socialites in Kenya.Thousands of Kenyan men are ready to die for her ideal body. Her real name is Alhuda Njoroge. Born in 1991, Huddah Monroe gained her fame after her participation in the Big Brother Africa, a popular TV show.

She probably is the Kenyan Tonto Dikeh.

4. Susan Anyango (Model): Catherine was Miss World Kenya 2011-2012. She studied Journalism and Communication while in the university. Her hobbies include swimming, playing basketball and reading inspirational books. For every Nigeria’s Agbani Darego there’s a Susan Anyango.

5. Joyce Omondi (Gospel Singer): For a religious society like Nigeria that is filled with many gospel singers, Joyce is the Kenyan version.

She studied in Kenya before going to Knox College in the United States of America where she majored in Economics and Integrated International Studies (IIS). Joyce also holds a masters in Foreign affairs.

6. Lupita Nyong’o (Oscar Winning Actress): She is one of the beauties putting Kenya on the world map, surpassing the Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade of Nigeria. Lupita Nyong’o was born in Mexico City in the year 1983. She is the daughter of Kenyan politician Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o. Her mother is called Dorothy Ogada Buyu. She attended college in the United States, earning a bachelor’s degree in Film and Theatre Studies from Hampshire College.

Lupita Nyong’o is an actress and a fashion icon. She started while still in Kenya and African included before she took the world stage. She is the first Kenyan to ever win an Academy Award. Lupita Nyong’o was nominated for several awards for 12 Years a Slave, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress, a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards, including Best Supporting Actress, which she won.

She was also awarded the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, becoming the sixth black actress to win the award. She is the first African actress to win the award, the first Kenyan actress to win an Oscar, and the first Mexican to win the award. She was the fifteenth actress to win an Oscar for a debut performance in a feature film. Apart from 12 years a Slave, which opened the way for her, she was also in this year’s Marvel blockbuster movie; Black Panther.
