#ImoDecides2023: LP’s Achonu Casts Vote, Speaks On Voting Process (Photos)

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the November 11 Imo governorship election, Senator Athan Achonu, has cast his vote.

KOKO TV NG reports that the former Senator and his wife voted at his polling unit, PU008, Numo Primary School, Umunomu, Ehime-Mbano Local Government Area (LGA) in Imo state at 10:30 am.

Speaking with journalists after casting his vote, Achonu expressed satisfaction with the electoral process and commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a well-planned election.\

In other news, Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri has cast his vote at the ongoing governorship election in Bayelsa state.

The governor who cast his vote at his polling unit in PU 004, Sampou/Kalam, Kolokuma/Opokuma LG, is seeking re-election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The PDP candidate is hoping to maintain control of the oil-rich state, just as his main opposition and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Timipre Sylva is aiming to unseat Governor Diri.

After casting his vote at the ongoing election, Governor Diri, who commended the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, said the conduct so far had been seamless.

“I think this is an improvement from all the other elections that I have witnessed so far, very seamless, very fast; if it continues like this, I want to believe that INEC is improving on not only their facilities but the training of the personnel that are handling the process,” he said.

“We are still putting our ears to the ground as to what is happening in other polling units, but here, we are very satisfied with the personnel that are handling the process,” he added.

Speaking on his main opponent, Sylva, the governor said that the citizens of the state deserve better than the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.
