This was different during the presidential and National Assembly elections where a large voter turnout was recorded.

In eight states across the country, only the House of Assembly elections are ongoing and in other states the gubernatorial elections are ongoing as well.

Meanwhile, local officials hired towncriers to make personal appeals and convince residents to come out for the exercise.

At Ward 5, Unit 18 and Ward 5, Unit 19, Alagbaka Primary School, Akure, Akure South Local Government Area, Ondo, the turnout was very low compared to the turnout recorded during the Presidential/NASS elections on February 25, 2023.

At Ward 5, Unit 19, the registered voters were 1204, but as at 11:47, only 72 voters had shown up at the polling unit.

A visit to Oba-ile, Akure North Local Government Area, revealed a better turnout, particularly at Ward 9, Unit 6, Akure North Local Government Area, where the PDP candidate voted.
