According to a UK Daily Mail citing La Porteria de Beteve and FourFourTwo, the former Man United and Barcelona boss maintained he was only airing his personal opinion, even as he stressed that re-signing the Selecao star would be counterproductive. Interestingly, Neymar joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 for a reported £198m, but has been consistently linked with a return to Barcelona. Speaking about the possibility of the Brazilian returning to Camp Nou, the Dutchman tactician insists Neymar will struggle to fit in despite netting 105 times in 186 games.
“I think it’s not good for Barcelona, but that’s my opinion. “Neymar is still a young player who can continue to develop. He must first learn to be a team player.“Neymar is too individualistic, which is why I think Barcelona should be vigilant before deciding to get him back,” added Van Gaal, who claimed two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and a UEFA Super Cup in his two spells at Nou Camp in the 90s. Neymar is expected to be back in action today as PSG battle Liverpool in a tough Champions League showdown at the Parc des Princes tonight (Wednesday).
