Liverpool Offer €40m Offer Man Utd Target, Saul Niguez, But Atletico Madrid Wants €50m For Midfielder

Liverpool have made a €40m (£34m) offer for Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez with the Spanish champions holding out for €50m (£43m).

Jurgen Klopp is after a midfielder this summer following the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum, who left the club at the end of his contract in July to join Paris Saint-Germain. The Premier League side made an opening offer for Saul according to Mundo Deportivo but will have to increase their offer if they are to land the Spain international.

Saul has spent his entire senior career at Atletico but has been weighing up a fresh challenge away from the Spanish capital.
The 26-year-old won his first La Liga title in May as Atletico held off Real Madrid and Barcelona but was not an automatic starter under Diego Simeone last season.LiverpoolNiguez was also subbed off during crucial games during the season run-in, failing to play the full 90 minutes in their final seven fixtures. The midfielder is now strongly considering a move with Liverpool keen.

Reports in Spain however suggest Barcelona could also be a destination with the Catalan giants ready to offer Antoine Griezmann back to his former side Atletico.
