Lionel Messi Names His 5 Best Players In The World ….Leaves Out Cristiano Ronaldo

Argentine forward Lionel Messi has named his top five players in world football – but Cristiano Ronaldo is not one of them. There is seeming little love lost between the pair, who have been rivals for the coveted Ballon D’or crown for over a decade. However Messi’s omission of Ronaldo is not because he doesn’t see the Portuguese star as one of the best, but rather because he thinks they are in a different league to the rest. Speaking of the Juventus star, Messi told Marca : “It was nice to have Ronaldo in La Liga for the prestige it brought. Excluding him [Ronaldo] and me, the best players in the world are Mbappe, Hazard, Suarez, Aguero and Neymar .” Ronaldo’s move to Juventus in the summer ended the regular La Liga match ups between him and Messi, but they could yet meet again in this seasons Champions League. Both teams would have to navigate their way to the final however, with Juve facing Ajax and Barca posed with a tricky tie against Man Utd in the quarter-finals. Messi can be somewhat relieved however that he won’t have to come up against four of the players he pits in the top five. The Argentine selected strike partner Luis Suarez among his picks, as well as ex-Barca teammate Neymar. Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have already been eliminated from the Champions League with PSG, whilst Eden Hazard’s Chelsea did not qualify for this seasons competition. Sergio Aguero is the only player he could end up on the opposite side to this season, dependant on whether Manchester City also make it to the final.Photo Credit: Getty
