Lifestyle: Interior Decor Ideas For Your Bedroom

It can often be the forgotten room in your home because no one else sees it — but it should be the exact opposite, because it’s the one space where you get to recharge. Even when the day is pure chaos, your bedroom is the one place where you should always be able to go and regroup. So you at least deserve to give yourself home court advantage by choosing decor you love.So start by choosing colours. To be specific, choose 3 colours or shades. You need to choose a color scheme. This is the tough part. Color is so personal and creates moods within us that inspire. No matter what, choose the colors that call to you. We won’t tell you what colors to choose, but we will tell you to try for a mix of three colors or shades. One main color for walls, another color for larger accents such as bed/mattress and couch, and then a third color that pops in smaller accessories such as doors, wall clock and pillows. You should also use decorative mirrors to add instant light to your bedroom. Mirrors can also be used to make a small space feel larger. For larger rooms, or any room with a more limited amount of natural light, mirrors placed directly across from the windows, will add instant light. Large or small, mirrors add light and dimension to your living space.Modern decor experts will always tell you one thing: Go green! Add green plants to your room! Plants are an inexpensive means to accessorizing your space and adding color and texture. Not only are plants beautiful but many can clean household air and balance humidity. They can absorb pollutants and remove harmful gases from the air. No room should be without these wonderful greens! While you are at it, get a fluffy rug and a chair. Nothing ruins a happy or make a gloomy one worse than stepping out of bed onto a cold, hard floor. Do yourself a favour and make sure your first step into the day is cushy and comforting wth a beautiful rug. Regarding the chair, a good spot to seat will serve you well when you are reading or need to have a conversation with a fellow human. And did I mention that it is also great for putting on shoes? You are advised to have photographs in your bedroom, but not of family! You should have as many family photos in other rooms but not in the bedroom. It is best to keep the bedroom’s artwork less emotionally loaded. Elegant and calming photographs evoke good feelings much like family photos do, without reminding you of specific people while you’re trying to fall asleep.Photo Credit: Getty
