F1 Defending Champion, Lewis Hamilton Signs £40m New Deal With Mercedes

The 7-time world champion’s initial deal with Mercedes’ Silver Arrows had already expired as at the last day of December 2020.

Mercedes’s team principal, Toto Wolff indicated at the end of January that they were in talks over renewing his deal, but admitted having a disagreement with his star driver on Zoom over the terms of his latest deal.

It was reported that Lewis Hamilton was holding out for a three-year deal, while the Silver Arrows were reluctant to agree to those terms.

But the two parties have finally come to an agreement, with Hamilton’s mega-money contract now confirmed ahead of the new season set to kick off in Bahrain on March 28.
