A Tunisian Navy Ship collided with a boat carrying at least 70 migrants on Monday leaving at least eight migrants dead.
Italian State news Agency (ANSA) confirmed that the accident occurred on the waters between Tunisia and Malta. Italian and Maltese authorities have sent ships and aircrafts to rescue the victims.
An Italian coast guard said the Maltese government is coordinating the rescue operation. ANSA said, “Two Italian coast guard vessels, a finance police boat, and a navy ship have been sent to assist in a rescue mission”.
The migrants were trying to access Europe from Tunisia in a small overcrowded boat.
