Lai Mohammed Lied, FG Paid Huge Ransom To Free Dapchi Girls – UN Report

A UN Report has alleged that the Minister of Information, Lai Muhammed lied about the circumstances surrounding the release of Dapchi girls. According to the United Nations’ report, a huge ransom was paid to secure the school girls’ release from Boko Haram’s custody.

Lai Muhammed had earlier told journalists, “It is not true that we paid ransom for the release of the Dapchi girls, neither was there a prisoner swap to secure their release”. However a UN report is proofing that wrong. “In Nigeria, 111 schoolgirls from the town of Dapchi were kidnapped on 18 February 2018 and released by ISWAP on 21 March 2018 in exchange for a large ransom payment,” the report stated.
