Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe has been named the most valuable player in the world.

Mbappe, 21, is having another remarkable season with Paris Saint-Germain and has scored 18 times in all competitions. The France World Cup winner continues to be linked with a transfer though amid reported interest from Liverpool and Real Madrid .

But if his transfer valuation is anything to go by, they will have to cough up a world-record fee to land him. CIES Football Observatory have taken a look at the most valuable players in each of Europe’s top five leagues – Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 .

It is claimed Mbappe’s true market value is £226m, slightly more than PSG paid Barcelona for teammate Neymar in 2017. He finishes ahead of England and Manchester City star Raheem Sterling (£190m) and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (£149m).

Fellow Anfield hero Sadio Mane also finishes in the top five alongside Jadon Sancho. The value of English players is represented in the list with Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford and Trent Alexander-Arnold all in the top 15. Liverpool’s success on the pitch is also reflected with Alisson ranked as the most valuable goalkeeper (£74m) while Virgil van Dijk takes top spot for central defenders (£79m).
