‘You want to take the high road and sometimes it’s hard,’ she said in a new interview on ABC. ‘I’ve always been a champion of him speaking his truth.’
She also revealed that she has been ‘really open and honest’ with her children about the divorce, explaining that the oldest two, North and Saint, are aware of what is going on between them.
‘You have to just be there for them,’ she continued. ‘No matter what, even in this crazy life that we live, you just have to have a really open dialogue with your children.
‘Kanye and I have had conversations. We have to talk daily for the kids so you know, I hate that it had to play out like that. But when it comes to family, I mean, Kanye and I will always be family.
‘At the end of the day, I just want my kids to be happy and healthy, and think the world of their dad. And they do.’
Spilling the beans on her budding romance with Pete, she added that she was ‘very happy and very content’ with the Saturday Live star.
Kim broke off her marriage to Kanye last February, six years after they tied the knot.
In a candid interview with Vogue US, she also shared that she has learnt to become her own ‘cheerleader’ in the last few years, which has led to her recent decisions.
‘For so long, I did what made other people happy. And I think in the last two years I decided, I’m going to make myself happy,’ she told the publication. ‘And that feels really good.
‘And even if that created changes and caused my divorce, I think it’s important to be honest with yourself about what really makes you happy. I’ve chosen myself. I think it’s okay to choose you.
’My 40s are about being Team Me. I’m going to eat well. I’m going to work out. I’m going to have more fun, spend more time with my kids and the people who make me happy.
‘I’m going to put my phone down. Unfollow if I don’t want to see something on Instagram.’
