Kano Police To Monitor Guber Election With Surveillance Helicopter

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba has on Friday deployed surveillance helicopter and other operational vehicles to Kano state to further strengthen the state’s security and to ensure peaceful exercise of the Saturday’s governorship and state house of assembly elections.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel confirmed that the equipment had indeed arrived in a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna.

The state’s commissioner mentioned that the helicopters, Anti-riot equipment as well as additional manpower have arrived safely and would be used to ensure adequate security during the Guber poll.

CP Gumel however explained that with the security boost, Kano state command is fully ready to neutralize any form of violence during the election. He also reiterated that arrangements have been to make sure every polling unit is manned with fully armed security personnel so as to give no chance to nefarious individuals who might want to undermine the electoral process in the state.

“The Kano State Police Command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police for the 2023 Gubernatorial and State Assembly Elections, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel received a Police Air-wing Surveillance Helicopter, additional Manpower, Operational Vehicles and Anti-riot equipment deployed to the State by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, ahead of March 18 Gubernatorial and State Assembly Elections, today, 17th March 2023.

“The command is fully prepared and arrangements have been concluded for ensuring a peaceful election process,” the statement however reads.
