The Kano state government has dethroned the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.
The dethronement of the Emir comes after a State Council executive meeting presided over by the Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, said that the move was with immediate effect.
He advised people to go about their regular business and not be perturbed.

He also said a new Emir will be announced soon.
