Justin Bieber is adamant his tour cancellation has nothing to do with religion. The 23-year-old pop star appeared confused when paparazzi asked him if religion was the reason he canceled the rest of his world tour “Purpose” earlier this week after reports suggested his involvement in Hillsong Church had something to do with it.
Justin Bieber has been publicly affiliated with Hillsong — a contemporary Sydney-based church with churches spanning across 19 countries which is aimed toward people who do not like the conventional ideas of church and religion.
Despite Bieber’s involvement with the modern day church, he chalked up shutting down “Purpose” early because of exhaustion. Scooter Braun, Bieber’s manager, released a statement on Tuesday noting the tour was shut down because the singer’s “soul and well-being” come first.
