Jose Mourinho Blasts Kurt Zouma For Dreadful Mistake Against Marcus Rashford

Jose Mourinho insists Kurt Zouma should have known what Marcus Rashford was going to do when he brought the striker down in the box during Chelsea’s clash with Manchester United.

Zouma’s tackle handed United a penalty, a gift Rashford accepted by smashing the ball past Kepa Arrizabalaga in 18th minute at Old Trafford.

Chelsea were on top before the goal and Mourinho admitted he would have been ‘frustrated’ with Zouma’s decision making.

‘I would be very frustrated with Zouma,’ he said. ‘You analyse opponents and that is one basic thing against Rashford – he always goes to the inside. He always goes to his favourite foot on his favourite side. He’s looking for that curving shot. You just have to close the inside and don’t put your leg out.’

Chelsea hit the post twice during the first-half, with Tammy Abraham and Emerson going close for the Blues. United’s lead came when the Red Devils were under pressure, but Mourinho insists Chelsea should have been wary of the home side’s ability to break at speed.

‘That can happen,’ Mourinho said about Chelsea going behind. ‘Even when you have ball possession and the best chances, if you lose balance in any moment in transition, that can happen. You can say unlucky, but Manchester United showed they were dangerous. One mistake, out of balance and goodbye.’

With Mourinho running rule over his former sides, the Portuguese predicted United and Chelsea would battle it out for fourth spot, alongside Arsenal.
