The Midfielder who had been a free agent after his contract with the Turkish club, Trabzonspor was terminated in March after he refused to play in the particular game due to the growing fear of contracting the deadly global pandemic coronavirus, with a comment he made on his Instagram handle.

According to reports Botafogo has already made and official offer to former Chelsea midfielder and both have been in negotiations for the last few days, it is believed that at the Rio De Janeiro already have a deal in place to bring John Mikel Obi on board and all that is left are minor paper works team.

Botafogo decided to sign the 32-year-old Nigerian after their attempt to sign former Ivory Coast international Yaya Toure.
