Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho is reportedly more confident than ever of joining Manchester United this summer.

The England international has been a long-term transfer target for United and it is believed that the player’s prospective wages and agent fees were agreed a year ago. However, the Bundesliga club’s asking price for the star – said to be valued at £108million – was prohibitive and prevented a move from coming to fruition.

This summer is likely to prove much more feasible for a move with the player’s asking price dropping significantly, with the latest reports suggesting it is not in the region of £85million.
That valuation will likely need to be negotiated upon for United to secure their desired target, but it creates the conditions for the process to begin.

Media reports now outlines that the 21-year-old is growing increasingly confident that he can secure his move to Old Trafford, which he was frustrated could not be completed last year.

Sancho has hit top form in recent weeks – scoring 10 goals in his last 13 appearances and a brace in each of his most recent two matches, including a double in the 4-1 DFB-Pokal Cup final win over RB Leipzig this midweek.

He has now scored 16 goals and tallied 18 assists in 36 appearances this campaign, with his contributions meaning his side are now back in the top four in the Bundesliga and on course to secure Champions League football for next season.

However, the economic ramifications of the pandemic are still unclear and Dortmund – who consistently register among the highest attendances in European football – will be aware of the need to boost their financial position this summer.

United spent £46million on rookie right-sided forwards Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellestri on transfer deadline day last October, but Sancho’s arrival would solve a long-term problem position for the club.Jason Sancho
