It’s On! Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder Trilogy Fight Date Finally Confirmed

Tyson Fury’s promoter Bob Arum is hopeful the Gypsy King’s eagerly anticipated trilogy fight against Deontay Wilder will take place on December 19 in Las Vegas.

‘That’s what we’re moving ahead on, on all fronts, with the security, with the virus, and everything’, Top Rank chief Arum said. ‘We’re talking with everybody here in town, with the Raiders.

‘So we’re optimistic that we’ll be able to do the event in Nevada, in Las Vegas.’

After fighting a controversial split draw against Wilder in their remarkable first contest back in December 2018, Fury utterly dominated his rival in their rematch earlier this year and currently holds the WBC heavyweight world title belt.

Despite suffering such a comprehensive defeat, during which he was knocked to the canvas twice in a brutal seventh round, Wilder immediately exercised his contractual right to a third fight.

The Bronze Bomber had originally intended to lock horns with Fury again in July, but those plans were shattered by the global coronavirus pandemic.

Social distancing protocols are still likely to be in place by the time the third fight, pencilled in to take place at the Las Vegas Raiders’ new arena, comes around but Arum is hopeful that between 10,000 and 15,000 fans will be able to attend.

Confirmation of another installment of Fury vs Wilder would end any hopes of the WBC champion taking on Anthony Joshua in an all-British contest until next year.

With negotiations dragging on, Fury had teased the possibility of Joshua replacing Wilder as his next opponent as recently as last week, but claimed his domestic rival was ducking him.

‘I don’t know, but here we go. If Wilder’s not happening, let’s do Joshua in December,’ Fury said .

‘Why not? It’s a boxing match, let’s get it on. I’m ready to go. I could fight him in that ring tonight. I’ll still kick his ass any time of the day. Doesn’t matter anyway. ‘Do I see the fight happening anytime soon? Hopefully.

‘Hopefully they’d grow a pair and want to fight the Gypsy King. If I was in their position, I had my chance at glory to go to America and beat Wilder but they didn’t take it! I had to come out of retirement, set about him a couple of times, take the No.1 spot, take all the glory and now they’re all looking up to me.’
