Seun Kuti son of Legendary Afrobeat Musician and Human Right Activist Fela Anikulapo Kuti has condemned Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his part for the arrest of former presidential aspirant Omoyele Sowore for planning a protest tagged “Revolution Now.”
Seun Kuti condemned the arrest, while on-air with Linda Ikeji’s TV crew he said: “It is a shame that an administration with Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu will lock somebody up when he’s the leader of that party that is ruling, for saying Revolution Now, knowing the history of NADECO, the role that he played, and where we all came from, from 1993 till date, I think it was a bit harsh.”
He added: “The only thing I told Sowore was that he needed a bit more time to take people along. You can’t do revolution on the people’s behalf. You have to do your revolution with the people.”
He went on to say that he can never accept a political appointment from the current administration.
The Grammy nominee said: “I can’t take a political appointment in an oppressive system.”
He continued: “There’s a Yoruba proverb that says that the only discussion the cockroach and the chicken can have is inside the stomach of the chicken.” Photo Credit: Getty
