There is no way the history of African footballers in the Italian Serie is discussed without these players and a few others like Khouma Babacar, Kanu Nwankwo, Taribo West, and Simy Nwankwo.

But which players will be mentioned when the list of the top five African players with the most goals in Serie A is compiled?

In this article, KOKO TV examines the African goal Kings in the history of Serie-A

5. Khouma Babacar (Senegal) – 39 goals 166 games

If the 2008/2009 Football Manager edition was anything to go by, Khouma Babacar would have gone down in history as one of the best strikers alongside the great Ronaldo Nazario de Lima.

He was a beast in the game, he could basically do everything and anything. Score goals with both feet, with his head, and from anywhere on the pitch.

5. Mohamed Kallon (Sierra Leone) – 39 goals in 125 games

Mohamed Kallon played for a host of Italian Serie A teams but it was at Inter Milan that he became very popular.

He played for 19 different teams in a career spanning 18 years. Apart from Inter Milan, he also played for Bologna, Cagliari, Reggina, Vicenza, and Genoa in Serie A.

4. Gervinho (Ivory Coast) – 40 goals in 105 games

Gervinho had an impressive return for a winger considering his goal-to-game ratio. The former Arsenal players played for Roma, and Parma in Serie A.

His best goal-scoring in the Serie A was the 2018/19 season where he scored 11 goals in 31 games for Parma.

Gervinho also provided 19 assists across 105 Serie A games.

3. Keita Balde (Senegal) – 41 goals 185 games

Skillful Keita Balde started out at Barcelona La Masia before joining Lazio in 2011 where he became one of the stars in the Italian league.

In 7 seasons, he scored a total of 41 goals in 185 games representing four Italian clubs; Lazio, Inter, Sampdoria, and Cagliari.

2. George Weah (Liberia) – 46 goals in 114 games

George Weah may not be considered the most popular African star right now, as the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba, Mohammed Salah, and Saido Mane would be mentioned ahead of him.

The current President of Liberia remains the only African player to be named the best footballer in the world.

1. Victor Osimhen (Nigeria) – 43 goals in 71 games (counting)

Victor Osimhen is in the form of his life at the moment. He is fastly becoming one of the best strikers in the world, something he says motivates him to go out and do more.

In just his third season after 71 games, Osimhen is four goals away from breaking George Weah’s long-standing Serie A record.
