Rising Nigerian singer, Blessing Mariam Akiode, also known as Candy Bleakz, has said the lack of relationship between female artistes is the reason it is more difficult for them to thrive in the music industry compared to their male counterparts.

She said it is particularly difficult for her to be accepted by her female colleagues because of her unique style of music.

The 23-year-old appeared on the latest episode of the Clout Africa podcast.

Candy Bleakz said, “For [Nigerian] female artistes generally, there is no relationship among female artistes. No vibe, no nothing, you know.

“Then now, my music is now even different from what they are doing, now I’m trying to like sync myself in, like, yo, I’m here. What’s up? So, it’s harder.”

Earlier, the musician had tweeted, “Congratulation to me, I went through so many pains, a lot of tears and hardship, so many slaps and many didn’t believe but finally after many years I finally downloaded this pictures online and put my sound on it…… All I just need is for y’all to stream ‘WALE’ so I can buy it….”

She had uploaded a short video of a building on her Twitter handle urging her fans to stream her music ‘Wale’.
