Star actress, Issa Rae is obviously on a roll. Two days after the second season of her critically-acclaimed HBO show Insecure wrapped, the actress and show creator has been named the newest face of CoverGirl, joining a diverse group of spokesmodels that include Zendaya, Sofia Vergara, Janelle Monae and many others.
The brand revealed that it chose Issa because she ‘truly embodies the CoverGirl spirit of inclusive self-expression, inspiring people to embrace what makes them unique and confidently represent that to the world.’ The Golden Globe nominee shared the news with her one million Instagram followers this morning with a behind-the-scenes image of what appears to be a CoverGirl shoot.
‘I remember being an awkward black girl in high school, reading the pages of my favorite magazines, casually flipping through ads, singing their slogan in my head,’ Issa captioned the photo. ‘Never EVER in my life did I imagine I’d be one. I am SO honored and SO excited for what’s to come.’
