I’m Sorry For Waking Sir Alex Ferguson Up At 3.30am – Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp offered an apology to Sir Alex Ferguson after waking the Manchester United legend up while celebrating Liverpool’s Premier League title win.

Ferguson had revealed that he was woken up by the Liverpool boss trying to get in touch with him in the early hours of the morning.

‘Jurgen, fantastic,’ Ferguson said in July. ‘I have spoken about Leeds United, 16 years in the Championship, Liverpool, 30 years since winning that league: incredible.

‘Really thoroughly deserved. The performance level of the team, really outstanding. Your personality ran right through the whole club. I think it was a marvellous, marvellous performance.

‘I’ll forgive you for waking me up at half past three in the morning to tell me you’d won the league. Thank you. But anyway, you’ve thoroughly deserved it, well done.’

Klopp was quizzed over why he was getting in touch with the former Manchester United manager so late at night and he explained that he was merely returning a message from Fergie.

He was quick to apologise but admitted the pair hadn’t been in contact since.
‘The problem was that I came back late in my room that night and I couldn’t sleep immediately so I went through the messages I got and one of them was from Alex Ferguson,’ said Klopp.

‘I just replied in a very polite way I think. It was about 3.30am-4am and I didn’t expect him to have his phone next to his bed. I didn’t want to wake him up. If that happened then sorry Alex!

‘But since then we have not been in contact. He is still the former Man United manager and I don’t think he wants to talk to me too much about the success of Liverpool. He respects it but it’s not his favourite thing to watch on television!’
