“I’m Not An Advocate Of Zoning” – Kayode Fayemi

Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has given his opinion on the on-raging political controversy about where the next president of Nigeria should come from.  Kayode Fayemi

Governor Kayode Fayemi made his stance clear on the zoning issues currently surrounding the 2023 Presidency within the APC. Governor Fayemi while on Channels Television Sunday Politics he averred that he isn’t an advocate of zoning despite the huge clamour amongst the Southerners who have said they’re being marginalised and believe the next President should come from this region be it Yoruba or Igbo. Insisting that there is no reason why candidates from all parts of Nigeria will not partake in the primaries when the stage is set in 2023, the Ekiti state Governor averred that “excellent Nigerians come from all parts of Nigeria and there is no place where qualified and purpose-driven leaders cannot be found.”

“In a country that is multicultural, multireligious and multiethnic, one of the equilibrating mechanisms is to ensure that those in leadership represent the mosaic that the country is.
“I am not an advocate of zoning…I’m also of the view that excellent Nigerians come from all parts of the country.”
