I’m Evolving With My Sound – Wizkid Says As He Reveals It Takes Him One Or Two Years To Make An Album

Afrobeat singer Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun aka Wizkid or Big Wiz has disclosed that it takes him one or two years to make an album.

He made the announcement in an interview with GQ.

“I am working on a new album, but I never like to be, like, in a rush,” Wizkid told GQ.

“Sometimes it takes me a year, two years, to make an album. I always record in terms of albums, not just songs. I like to make music that way, because it gives you a sense of direction,” he said.

Speaking on how much he keeps growing his sound, he said; “Well, in the next album, I’m just trying to enjoy myself with the music now, because of the reception from the fans for my last album. I just keep evolving with the sound

He further went on to talk about Tems, one of the fast-rising singers in the industry.

Recall that ever since their collaboration on his single ‘Essence’, the 26-year-old had since been on the lips of music lovers.

The ‘Smile’ singer talking about Tems said; “You know, I’ve known Tems…I can’t even actually remember how we met, but I know I brought her out for one of my shows in Lagos. We had talked about working and I went back home to record.

He added, “When I record at home, it’s like I have a crazy situation. I’ll be in a room with like 8, 10 producers, everyone’s got their rooms and we’re just making music.

“She came through to the hotel and we laid down the idea. It was just effortless. Just lay down the melodies, and she didn’t even think anything of it. She felt like we had to do another record, but I already knew we had magic.”
