‘We Seek No Conflict, But If Conflict Comes To Us, We Are Ready For It’ – U.S Secretary Of State Antony Blinken Declares

Antony Blinken, the United States Secretary of State, earlier today and other Foreign ministers of member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) met in Brussels, Belgium to further discuss the best line of actions in the light of the continued attack of Ukraine by Russia. The Secretary-General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, had earlier on Friday (4 March 2022) welcomed US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to the NATO Headquarters, ahead of a meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers.

Jens Stoltenberg had said during a press briefing, that NATO condemns the brutal attacks by Russia on civilians in Ukraine, while also calling the assault by the Russian military on Putin’s order on the world’s biggest nuclear plant in Ukraine as reckless and further growing need to end the war as soon as possible, with Russia withdrawing all its troops and engage in good faith in diplomatic efforts.

While also speaking too at the media press briefing, the Secretary of State of the US, Antony Blinken, noted that whatever position the US holds at the moment it is a defensible position, further went on to say, that the United States and NATO, ‘We seek no conflict, but if conflict comes to us, we are ready for it’. 

It should be noted that NATO was created in 1949, by the United States of America, Canada, UK, France and other Western European countries in a coalition of forces against the Soviet Union, at the start of the “cold war”.
