ICPC Arrests Whistle Blower Over False Information On Namadi Sambo

Abubakar Sani, has been taken to court by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) for providing false information about a supposed unlawful act carried out by former Vice President of Nigeria Namadi Sambo. The information Sani gave led to the invasion on the residence of the former Vice President, Namadi Sambo, on June 28, in Kaduna. However after the raid, the ICPC had not found anything accusatory against the former Vice President. Sani is facing a two-count charge before Justice Aliyu Tucker of Kaduna State High Court for providing false information and misleading a law enforcement agent. The counsel to the commission has said that the accused had provided the false information by claiming to have transported boxes of money in local and foreign currencies from Abuja airport to the house of The former vice president at Ungwan Rimi GRA, Kaduna in 2013. He said he had suspected it to be ill-gotten wealth and was sure that it was still at the house. The judge instructed that Sani be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case till Thursday, November 2, for hearing.
