WCW: Ibukun Awosika, The Power Woman, Leader Of Men The Only Female Bank CEO In Nigeria

Ibukun Awosika is the current Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria Plc and the first women to take up such position since its establishment over a century ago.

Awosika is also a Nigerian businesswoman, author and motivational speaker and a board member of the Women in Management and Business (WIMBIZ) and Convention on Business Integrity.

In her interview with PUNCH in 2016, she said beyond monetary gains, her spiritual, social life and health are equally important to her and refers to them as meaningful prosperity.Ibukun Awosika

In 2011, she co-founded the Afterschool Graduate Development Centre, a career centre established in order to checkmate the high rate of unemployment in Nigeria.

On September 7, 2015, Ibukun became the first woman to be appointed Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria following the resignation of Prince Ajibola Afonja.

Ibukun Awosika is member of IESE’s International Advisory Board (IAB). She also sits on the board of Digital Jewel Limited and Cadbury Nig Plc.

Mrs Awosika is a woman of many successes worth of emulation, she’s the first elected female chairman of the oldest bank in Nigeria and also currently the only female bank CEO in the country. She is married to Abiodun Awosika and has 3 children with her husband of 27 years.
