I Snubbed England To Play For Nigeria – Alex Iwobi

Super Eagles most sensational supporting striker, Alex Iwobi, has disclosed one of the most important career decisions he made that eventually led to his appearance for the Super Eagles in an interview with Soccer Laduma.
Iwobi revealed that he had the option of playing for the Three Lions of England due to the fact that he grew up in England. He however, decided to turn England down after his family and former Super Eagles mid-fielder, Jay Jay Okocha, convinced him to play for his motherland.
Alex said “I was growing up in England and England was the only national team I knew, so I was actually very pleased to play at national level, however, my family are all from Nigeria, I was born in Nigeria, my uncle (Jay-Jay Okocha) is a legend in Nigeria. That’s why I thought I would give it a chance. That’s why I went to the Under-23 and somehow felt more welcome, and I thought it’s where I belong, so I made the decision to switch.”somehow felt more welcome, and I thought it’s where I belong, so I made the decision to switch.”
