Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has revealed that he considered changing his name when he decided to go into acting several years ago. The actor in a recent interview shared that he wanted people to recognize him for his talent and craft rather than associate his success with his dad’s name Pete Edochie.
He noted that he started from scratch because he needed to make a name for himself and 16 years later he can boldly say he has made a name for himself and he is no longer recognized under the shadow of his father’s success.

“At a time, I even said I was going to change my name. I wanted to remove ‘Edochie’, so that people would see me as Yul, a graduate of Theatre Arts wanting to make a name for himself. I started from scratch and I needed to make my own name. By the grace of God, I think I have done that. “Sixteen years after, I am no longer known as Pete Edochie’s son, I am known as Yul Edochie. I have excelled and I’m still excelling in Nollywood.”
