I Have Finally Won A Trophy – Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was named manager of the year at the London Football Awards on Thursday night and made a gag about finally winning a trophy. It has been a disappointing week for the club with back-to-back league defeats having dealt a blow to their Premier League title hopes. But, ahead of Saturday’s north London derby at home to Arsenal, Spurs picked up an awards double, thanks to Pochettino and player of the year Heung-Min Son. Upon receiving the award, Pochettino said: “Like some people joke before – finally I got a trophy!” The funds raised from the awards benefit Willow, a charity which works with seriously ill young adults between the ages of 16 and 40.
Pochettino added later: “It is a great honour for me, of course. “Always an award means a lot for everyone and I want to say thank you to the foundation and of course for these London awards.”
Son beat competition from Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Crystal Palace’s Andros Townsend and his team mate Harry Kane to win the player of the year award. “It means a lot,” said Son. “Without team mates, I can’t win such a trophy. “For me it is very special, and I want to say thank you to my team mates, the coaching staff and the gaffer.” Photo credit: Getty
