The Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike reveals that he has taken the COVID-19 vaccine though he did without any publicity nor media fuss because it’s not a project nor an infrastructural project for the state and its citizens.
The Rivers State Governor revealed Saturday, March 27 that he received his jab without attracting any media publicity because a lot of other governors have turned it political.

Wike further added that he could have pretended to have received the COVID-19 jab and not necessarily receiving it only to deceive the media, The Nation reports.
The governor said this in response to claims among some of his detractors that he did not take the vaccine. His words:
“Some people said that I did not take my vaccine. I did, but am not into public shows. Taking a vaccine is not undertaking any project for anybody to see that you have taken a vaccine. “It has turned to politics. Assuming what I am taking is not the vaccine? Yes, I can pretend and then they will put it on the news that I have taken the vaccine…”
According to The Independent, Wike said he took the jab when a delegation of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 (PTF) led by Mukhtar Muhammad, the national incident manager, paid him a courtesy visit in Port Harcourt. Meanwhile, the Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, had said he would not receive the COVID-19 vaccine because he did not need it.

He argued that he does not have any medical condition that requires him to take the vaccine.
“As far as I am concerned, I as a person, I don’t need to take vaccines. There is nothing wrong with me, I am hale and hearty. I am 100 per cent healthy…I won’t take any vaccine.”
