Neymar has committed his future to Paris Saint-Germain by signing a new contract at the club until 2025.

There was plenty of speculation over the future of the 29-year-old, but he has put that to bed by extending his stay in the French capital for four more years.

The Brazilian superstar has regularly been linked with a return to Barcelona ever since leaving the Catalan giants in 2017, but that now seems an impossibility.

A statement from the prolific striker read: ‘It is a great happiness to extend the adventure at Paris Saint-Germain. I am very happy in Paris.

‘It is a real pride to be part of this group, to work with these players, this great coach and to be part of the history of this club. These are things that make me believe even more in this great project.

‘Here I have grown as a person, as a human being and as a player, too. So I’m very happy to extend and I hope to win many more trophies here.’

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi stated: ‘The centre of gravity of our ambitious project to grow PSG lies in the heart, the talent and the total involvement of our players. I am proud to see Neymar reaffirm today his long-term commitment, until 2025, to the Paris Saint-Germain family, whose fans he will continue to delight.

‘We are very happy to see him continue to be part of our project and to be by our side for many more years.’

Neymar has regularly struggled with injuries throughout his time in Paris, managing just 67 Ligue 1 appearances in the four seasons he has been at the club.

However, he has made the most of his time on the pitch, scoring 54 times in those 67 matches.

His total return is 85 goals in 112 appearances across all competitions since his world record €222 million (£193m) move from Barcelona.
