HURILAWS Threatens To Sue The Federal Government Over NNPC Appointments

The Human Rights Law Service, HURILAWS, has said it will initiate legal proceedings against the Federal Government for neglecting the South-East region in appointment into the Board of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC. In a letter by HURILAWS Senior Legal Officer, Collins Okeke, dated September 9, to the Acting Chairman, Federal Character Commission, FCC, Dr. Shettima Abba, the group noted that three members of the Board are from the North-East and the South-East has no representation.

“We request that the Commission compel the Federal Government to comply with the Constitution in appointment of the Board of Directors of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, failing which after seven days we shall initiate legal proceedings,” the group added.
