How SARS Operatives Harassed Me In Lagos – OAP Dotun

OAP Dotun

Dotun was harassed by SARS officers on Tuesday when he was mistaken for an internet fraudster.

The Cool FM OAP and singer D’banj‘s brother in-law said “six fully armed” officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigerian Police Force blocked his car at Ikota, in Lekki area of Lagos after they spotted his gold-tinted hair. Dotun Tweeted: “SARS kuku catch me finally cos of my hair. My ID card saved me. It was so funny. They were so convinced they’ve caught a yahoo boy. 6 fully armed men but one was so aware. He said “Do2dtun abi” I replied “Yes”.. he said “Dey go. I sabi you” … *breathe in and out*”

Dotun whose real name is Ojuolape Kayode unveiled his new look via Instagram on January 10 – just two days before he hosted the 2017 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival at Eko Convention Center, Victoria Island. The look has since become a signature for the popular hype man and show host.

He added: “Being broke or young should have nothing to do with your hair. We all should have the right to certain things. We are overly stereotypical in our thinking. Why do you plait your hair? Why do you do your nails? Does it mean you will die too?” Other Nigerian entertainers that have been harassed by the SARS operatives include, singer Dr. Sid and rapper Falz – whose manager was slapped during the experience.
