Nigeria’s bicameral National Assembly’s lower chamber, the House of Representatives has confirmed the appointment of the newly appointed Service Chiefs.
This is coming shortly after the Senate nominated the immediate past chiefs as non-career ambassadors, despite criticisms in some quarters.
The House of Reps’ had begun its process on Wednesday last week when the new appointees were called upon to share their portfolios as well as their vision if they are confirmed to take on the new roles.
The Committee on Defence then presented its report through its Chairman, Babajimi Benson during plenary session today Tuesday and the appointment was considered by the committee of the whole, before it was adopted by the House. According to the committee chairman, the nominees were thoroughly screened, and the service chiefs are also being screened by the Senate Committee on Defense.
