Hosa Okunbo: Babangida, Ize-Iyamu, Others Tribute Late Billionaire

Tributes have begun pouring in following the demise of Nigerian businessman and captain Idahosa Wells Okunbo, popularly referred to as Hosa Okunbo, some of which are from Major Gen Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, Pastor Ize-Iyamu and Orji Uzor Kalu.

Recall that KOKO TV reported that Hosa Okunbo joined the league of the saints in transition to the great beyond on the night of Saturday 8th August, after reportedly battling pancreatic cancer for one year.Babangida, Ize-Iyamu, Others Tribute Late Billionaire Captain Hosa OkunboAlthough Hosa Okunbo’s family is yet to release an official statement about his demise, Channels TV said multiple reports suggested doctors had told him he had nine months to live. “It was gathered that his health had improved and he was planning to return to the country by next week to attend the coronation of the new Olu of Warri Tsola Emiko who is married to his daughter Ivie”, the media reported.

Paying tribute to the deceased philanthropist, former Nigerian Military Head Ibrahim Babangida in a statement, described him as a such a great mind, adding that the news of his death is a disturbing one about the place of man in the journey to the great beyond. “Such a great mind exiting this sinful world at age 63 is a disturbing news about the place of man in this ephemeral journey; a journey of no return, an endless journey to eternity, leaving behind painful memories”, the statement reads.

“I am still battling with my inner recesses to contend with this sad news. I am wondering why such a good man would die at a time that this nation requires his services and contributions. I am asking very loud questions about life and its connotations. Captain Hosa’s death was the least I expected. We maintained very robust interaction every now and then, and there was nothing to suggest he would not return to us back home, when he travelled last year to seek medical attention”, the statement added.

Edo PDP Governorship aspirant for the 2020 gubernatorial elections, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu also tributed the Edo titan, thanking God for his life. “I thank God for Captain Hosa’s exemplary life of service. Captain Hosa was a leader and role model who, through his compassion and generosity, demonstrated the true essence of success: living meaningfully and in faithful commitment to the greater purpose of one’s life”, he wrote online.Babangida,  Ize-Iyamu, Others Tribute Late Billionaire Captain Hosa Okunbo“Captain Hosa earned the respect and affection of many in the country and beyond, with his remarkable personal accomplishments, which saw him triumph in all the territories accessible to man. Orji Uzor Kalu, the Senate Chief Whip, on the other hand, described the deceased Hosa Okunbo as an non-tribal selfless Nigerian who contributed to the nation-building and humanity through various initiative.
