Heavy Rainfall Kill Two People In Delta State

A heavy rainfall killed not less than 2 people and destroyed several houses in Delta state on Sunday.

According to Daily Post, over 70 houses were completely destroyed by the disaster, which occurred at the Idumuesah community, Ika North East Local government area of the state.
Mr. Godwin Alika, a father-of-six who was among the hundreds of people displaced by the rain said: “my house was affected, I have no house to sleep. My family has nowhere to go; the rainfall destroyed my house and property.”

Speaking in an interview with Daily Post, the state commissioner for special Duties, Barr Ernest Ogwezzy, confirmed the effects of the heavy rainfall. He said: “it is pathetic, two persons were killed; the state government is concerned, and we will do something to assist the victims.”
Several regions in the country have been adversely affected by the heavy rainfall that has accompanied the rainy season.
