Winner of the 9th edition of Project Fame Okiemute Ighorodje, found herself in a scandal recently.

A man had taken to Instagram, to accuse her of not holding to the end of their deal. The man stated that Okeimute did not pay him after he provided publicity services for her while she was in Project Fame. The man went ahead to posts a series of chats between them online adding that Okeimute insulted him.

Speaking with Sunday Scoop, Okiemute denied the allegations. “I have never met the person and it is obvious that the chat he provided was edited. At the top 24 stage, before we even got into the house in Project Fame, our phones were collected from us and we were told not to communicate with anybody. When I first saw the story, I just felt he needed some form of publicity.”

On if they both have ever had a cause for interaction online, she said; “None of the messages he posted is true; I don’t use swear words on people. I have tried to stay away from controversy. Several people send me messages everyday on social media, saying that they voted for me and I always thank them. I even try to interact with them by following them and liking their pictures. I try my best to be courteous. As far as Project Fame is concerned, my major publicist was a childhood friend of mine called Anita. She handled all the campaigns for votes. Everybody that had anything to do with my publicity during that time did so under the supervision of Anita. When I spoke with Anita, she said she didn’t know the guy. It is so painful that this is happening. There are a lot of people that helped me and I always thank them. Right now, I am in Warri where I was recently given an award. The person hosting me is one of those who supported me during the competition. If you supported me, you shouldn’t then try to pull me down. If you claim you did something out of your goodwill, why should you make me suffer for it?”

Maintaining that she wouldn’t reach out to the man who accused her, she said, “He doesn’t seem like a civil person. I expect that we, as youths, should be civil and try to help one another. There is a phone number on my Instagram page for people to call if they need to contact me. My manager would handle the enquiries and let me know, but we were never contacted. I am a star that no one can stop from shining; it has been written already. If he tries to create any scandal, he would face the consequences.”  Photo Credit: Various
