So many angry tweets and comments have welcomed the announce of the increase of the fine for hate speech in Nigeria from 500,000 naira to 5 million naira.
Lai Mohammed gave the announcement today 4th August, noting that the amendments were necessitated by a Presidential directive, in the wake of the 2019 general elections, for an inquiry into the regulatory role of the National Broadcasting Commission as well as the conduct of the various broadcast stations before, during and after the elections.

Some others wonder what happens to the money and how many people have been convicted when the fine was as it former amount. Some others, however, think the fine is another means for looting and embezzlement.
