Harry Potter and Chernobyl star Paul Ritters has passed away from a brain tumor at the age of 54. According to reports, the actor is said to have passed away on Monday night.
In a statement, his agent said that the actor died at home with his family by his side. Robert Popper, the creator of the sitcom for which Ritter is best known, shared his thoughts saying: “Devastated at this terribly sad news. Paul was a lovely, wonderful human being. Kind, funny, super caring, and the greatest actor I ever worked with.”
In Channel 4’s Friday Night Dinner, Paul Ritter played the quietly-suffering, often shirtless, hard-of-hearing husband and dad Martin Goodman. He played the role of Anatoly Dyatlov, the deputy chief engineer at the nuclear power plant in Chernobyl, wizard Eldred Worple in Harry Potter. Other notable roles were as Guy Haines in James Bond’s film Quantum Of Solace, in period drama Belgravia, as Billy Cartwright in Vera, and Sir John Seymour in Wolf Hall.
